After graduating from art school, she moved to Detroit with her husband Russell where she worked freelance for Hallmark cards, J.L. Hudson’s display department. She also illustrated for the Detroit Free Press Sunday Magazine where she received many awards. Bolt Studio has been an operational working studio since 1974. Sue and her husband Russell, purchased 15 acres and a 100 year old Farmers Grange Hall in Charlevoix, Michigan, with the idea of creating a working studio. The family moved to Charlevoix and started to refresh the old Grange Hall into the working studio they have today.

The Studio has completed many varied and diverse projects in its 34 years of operation. Some highlights are the custom, large ceramic tile installations and large painted commissions for private clients and various organizations.

In 1984 Sue had the opportunity to travel to Japan visiting artists in their art Studios, schools, and museums. From that experience, she came away with the belief that art is best when it is locally designed and produced. She continues to explore new areas to expand her creativity. In March of 2008, in collaboration with long time friend and author, Susan Goopigan, she illustrated “Gadoo, an Armenian Folk Tale” published by Wayne State Press. Her signature angels buymyhouse7.com/, ceramics, and paintings are on display in their Studio Showroom in Charlevoix, Michigan, the Flint Institute of Art, and the Rubini Gallery in Benzonia, Michigan.
